Sri Aurobindo's maternal great-grandfather, Raj Narayan Bose's father. Worked as a clerk at British East India Company. Was attracted by teaching of Rammohan Roi, become a member of Brahmo Samaj — reformist hindu sect founded by Rammohan — and some time was its secretary.
