Pavitra

(Philip Barbier de St. Hilaire)

Pavitra ("Clearness"), was named so by Sri Aurobindo. He was born at France at 1894. At 1914 was graduated Polytechnic School at Paris. Then he was called up for a war as artillery officer. Interested at occultism. After the war worked at the Ministry of transport and communication. At 1920 he put forth to Japan to learn Zen Buddhism. At 1924 left Japan for North China where he like to visit monasteries at which lived Tibetan lamas. At 1925 come over to India and was accepted as a sadhak.
